What’s Your Conundrum?

Want a wine that pairs well with dinner and dessert that won’t break your bank?  Well, thanks to social media I was introduced to another great wine thanks to my friends @rickbakas and @aundycrenshaw on twitter.

The Conundrum is a lovely tropical wine on the nose, apple crisp on the palate, and sweet and creamy on the finish. It serves as an excellent aperitif and pairs very well with sweet pulled pork tacos (compliments of @pappason).  After dinner I was craving a slice of warm apple pie thinking it would taste twice as good with the Conundrum by its side.  In fact, I think I’ll make that my first New Year’s resolution!  Baby steps, people. Baby steps. :)

The Conundrum is available in full & half bottle sizes and is neatly protected with a twist top cap.  In case you have any doubts about twist top closures you should know that they are far safer than natural cork.

  • They eliminate the risk of TCA (chlorine bleach exposure from cork)
  • Air tight to prevent risk of oxidization (excessive exposure to air)
  • Excellent Success Rate vs. Natural Cork and Synthetics

You’re almost guaranteed a perfect bottle every time as long as it’s kept away from too much heat and sun exposure.  Plus, it’s easy to re-seal for later enjoyment.

In retrospect the Conundrum would make an excellent wine to serve at your next backyard BBQ.  I think it compliments pork, turkey and would also heighten the flavors of shellfish.  Best served slightly chilled, 15-25 minutes in an ice bucket or from a fridge at 40-45 degrees.

And my favorite part… the Conundrum is very easy to find.  To learn more about amazing wine, please visit their website at ConundrumWine.com and follow the winery on Twitter.   Cheers!

Sometimes I wonder how a sweet white wine would go with a good Charred piece of Pork Ribs. I wonder if we can take a bottle to that Baby Blue BBQ place – Yummm That would be fun~ Thanks for the info

    - PS I really enjoyed the simplicity of the explanation regarding the Twist Top =) In my New and growing love for wine – I've been disheartened when I've opened up a corked bottle of $40+ I don't exactly have a cellar – nor do I buy cases of wine – So that means I'm screwed on that bottle – down the drain it goes….. Breaks My Wine Spirit just a little bit at a time.

But now I know Twist is also good and not my high school Boons Farm Drinking Flashbacks…. ZOINKS!

  2. If you like Conundrum, you should also check out Sokol Blosser's Evolution and Folie à Deux's Menage a Trois white. I find both are of similar character. It would make a fun blind tasting challenge to see which comes out on top.

    Hey Kevin,

I recently tried the Pinot from Sokol and really Loved it – So I would be interested in Checking out the Evolution. Seen the label before.

The Folie a Deux's Menage a trios used to be tasty but know I feel like they've gone down in quality…

Thanks for the advice and comparisons…
