Last Tuesday night (12/01) I had the great opportunity to blog live from Red Carpet Wine’s new wine tasting lounge with free Wi-Fi. The guest of honor was Hugh Davies, owner of Schramsberg in Napa Valley. Each table was neatly dressed with champaign glasses and a small platter of cheese, fruits and chocolates. The event was full of laughter, excitement and intrigue. Hugh is one classy winemaker, one who can raise the roof while answering the hardest questions about making his delicious wine.
To share this experience with my friends and followers, I turned to Posterous as my one-stop source. By simply writing an email with my photo attached, my micro blogs were simultaneously sent to my twitter, facebook, linkedin and friendfeed accounts with an estimated exposure count of over 3,550 people!
After tasting everything I have to say that all of his wines are superb for different reasons. I was very fond of the Brut Rose which would have gone perfectly with my Thanksgiving dinner, but my personal favorite was the Blanc de Noir. It’s got that bright brut flavor but a smooth velvety Pinot Noir finish. I even got a special bottle autographed to celebrate my 1 year anniversary next September.
To end the evening Hugh was nice enough to share with everyone a taste of his J. Davies Cabernet Sauvignon, a remarkable Bordeaux blend dedicated to the loving memory of his father Jack Davies. This 2006 vintage was a real show-stopper and had the room talking. Soft tannins, rich blueberry and dark chocolate. If there was ever a perfect wine that was ready to drink now, this is it. I can’t even imagine what it would taste like after a few years of aging… don’t think I could wait that long.
In conclusion, Schramsberg is the only sparking wine you will ever need! I share this brand with my family on every special occasion. I enjoyed it with my fiance when we were engaged and especially when we were married. If you haven’t tried Schramsberg then I suggest you head over to Red Carpet Wine and pick up yourself a bottle today. If you can’t find it in your neighborhood, send me an email and i’ll do my best to find it for you. Cheers!
You did an awesome job blogging live, it was a first for Red Carpet Wine and we would love for you to come out and do it again. Thanks for all your hard work!! It was a great event and everyone was able to see what they were missing out on ; )
