Today I am very exited to write about a very special wine that I discovered earlier this year thanks to two really good friends I met using the power of twitter. I am of course talking about the rock star James Berry and the beautiful Marisa Gutierrez. When I told them that I was coming to wine country James immediately recommended that I visit the ‘real’ wine country that is Sonoma Valley. I told him that I would love to experience it through the eyes of local, that’s if he would do me the honor of giving me the full Sonoma experience. James gracious accepted my offer and it was the beginning of a beautiful friendship.

This was my first official ‘tweet-up” and it started at Sebastiani Winery. I highly recommend their Dry Creek Zinfandel. It packs a big punch and you just can’t get it anywhere else. I bought two bottles which didn’t last a full week and I’ve been craving the taste ever since. After Sebastiani we traveled to B.R. Cohn and Jacuzzi Winery which has a great red wine called Nero D’Avola that tastes just like a strawberry short cake with a big scoop of vanilla ice cream.
To wrap up our adventure we returned to downtown Sonoma in preparation for the Tuesday evening live music and food festivities. But first we made one last stop at the Highway 12 Vineyards tasting room nestled within a cute little boutique store on the corner of First St. and Napa St.
OMG! The “Nueva” Chardonnay is so good!
Hands down the best I’ve ever tasted. The fruit comes from Carneros, my favorite source for Chardonnay fruit because of it’s cool climate and rich soil full of marine minerals. I like my Chardonnay’s rich, smooth, and buttery. This wine gave me all of that plus a little bit of that crisp fruit flavor… all for only $18.00! Needless to say, I am now a wine club member and taking full advantage of their 25% discount.
A few days before my wedding I took my Best Man Julian to their tasting room and he too agreed it was the best Chardonnay he had ever tasted. If you’re looking for a balanced Chardonnay that features crisp fruit and that delicious buttery after taste then I HIGHLY recommend you visit Highway 12 Vineyards and tell Cristina I said “hello and thanks again”
Special thanks to my friends James Berry and Marisa Gutierrez for introducing Anita and I to this wonderful winery. Cheers to you both!
How do I say “thank you,” except… Thank You.
Frank – I guess we share similar taste preferences.
You speak well on wines…someone must pay you as a PRO,…no?
Koster,
Thanks for visiting and for the nice comment. I would love to be paid for writing about wine since I enjoy it so much. I would also love to get my hands dirty in the field of winemaking. Thanks for making a wonderful Chardonnay. I’ll be in town to pickup my wines in December and I’m looking forward to tasting the XII Chardonnay, Reserve. Would love to thank you in person on my next visit. Until then, Cheers my friend. Happy Thanksgiving!

) I agree with you… I don’t usually like Chardonnay, but I love Highway 12′s Chard!
Wow! It’s a small world after all. Thanks for visiting my site and leaving a comment. It’s a pleasure to meet you. Perhaps we’ll run into each on our next visit. Cheers!
