This Sauvignon Blanc is my personal favorite from the “Forefront” wine series. 67% of the fruit comes from the Sonoma Dry Creek Valley and 33% from Napa counties. Dry Creek Valley is an area best known for producing great Zinfandels because of its cool, dry climate with minimal heat waves. After learning this I wasn’t sure what to expect. I’ll be honest, until today I didn’t know that Dry Creek was an optimal place for Sauvignon Blanc but as soon as I opened the bottle I was greeted with an aroma of fresh green apple. The first sip was so delightful. It was smooth, almost creamy, like biting into a ripe juicy pear. I’m a huge fan of creamy Sauvignon Blancs but I usually have to break the bank in order to try them. Not this time! This beautiful wine is only $16. Can you believe it? If you really want to experience this wine I recommend a good old fashion Napa Valley style picnic.
If you’re in Napa, your first stop should be Sunshine Foods in St. Helena. Grab some crackers, a block of Saint Andre triple cream Brie and order a smoked Turkey Sandwich. This place makes amazing and affordable sandwiches. I recommend rustic Italian bread, easy on the fillings, avocado and bacon if you like. Then simply head on over to JV Wine & Spirits and grab yourself a bottle!
If you’re in Los Angeles, I recommend getting your cheese & sandwiches from Joan’s on Third or Bay Cities. Then hit up Santa Monica Seafood and grab a chilled bottle.
If you can’t find this wine locally, ask your favorite retailer to carry it. That usually helps. But if it doesn’t, reach out to Pine Ridge Vineyards on Facebook or send them an email at info@pineridgewine.com
