The name “ILIAD” is an epic poem by Homer that recounts the final years of the Trojan War and the siege of the city of Troy. Like the poem, this wine contains a series of complex characteristics that serve a primary role to fulfill its quest. A remarkable setting of two wine counties: Napa and Mendocino. The fruits of these two valleys collide together to produce a crisp refreshing SB current, which is then fortified by a tame sweetness from the Muscat in the finish.

Never before in my travels have I encountered a white wine with so much harmony. Kosta Arger, winemaker at Arger-Martucci Vineyards, has set a new bar in white wine blending. I first discovered this wine three months ago while touring the winery with my family. Chris Maschauer, the Estate Vineyard Manager, gave us a taste fresh off the tap, moments before it was literally bottled.
WOW! Let me tell you that this wine had me floored! Chris smiled back and added that this is an everyday wine, perfect for dinner, dessert and especially on its own.

Upon it’s release I quickly rushed a bottle to my family so we could discuss what would be the perfect pairing. We all enjoyed the rich colorful flavors of honeydew melon, golden delicious apple and a subtle note of cider. To my surprise, the suggestions ranged from hearty meals like Chicken Pot Pie, Fettuccine Alfredo, to warm delicious desserts like Apple Pie or Black Berry Cobbler.
As we sat their enjoying our cheese platter and pouring the last splash of wine, I thought to myself how much I enjoy sharing this wine with my family. I hope that all my readers get the opportunity to do the same. Cheers!
Awesome! I am a big fan of Arger Martucci wines and I can’t say that I have tasted this wine. Now I have something to look forward to try over the weekend. Thanks Frank.
Yes! I distinctly remember this wine right from the tap and it was sooo delicious and delicate with tons of flavor. You are right about the melon flavors that it reminded me of the days we used to spike our melons with alchohol and sneak them into sporting events. What a treat this wine is and so enjoyable to drink. I personally think that this is one of the best white wines I have ever tasted. Congrats to the wine maker for pouring his heart and soul into this blend. Definately a wine to have for every occasion. And yes, hurry out and snag a few bottles and enjoy. CHEERS!
Yeah, this wine is fantastic. I hope they have some left for Christmas.
