The Sauvignon Blanc (#SauvBlanc) Tweet-up on March 4th was a smashing success. Produced by @RickBakas and @StSupery Winery, the goal of the event was to share and experience Sauvignon Blanc from wineries across the globe. In fact, @Johner got up at 2 am in Germany to participate. A quick analysis of the event shows that over 8,600 tweets translated into a reach of over 6 million impressions. Special Thanks to Linda Cordair at the @CordairGallery in downtown Napa. She produced an awesome environment to taste, tweet, and socialize. If you’re a winery looking for a creative space to host your wine related event, I highly recommend you connect with Linda.
Although #SauvBlanc was not a contest by any means, I would like to share with you my personal favorites from the evening.
BEST OF SHOW
@EhlersEstate winery today produced one of the best Sauvignon Blancs I have ever tasted. Served slightly chilled, this wine delivers an incredible aroma of juicy pear with a touch of sour apple on the palate. It doesn’t surprise me that this wine was so hard to find. In fact, @GoGoAnita searched all the major wine shops in Napa Valley to discover that this 2009 blend is new and only available at the winery with a 6 bottle purchase limit. Thanks @GoGoAnita for driving all the way to the winery so that we could all enjoy this amazing wine. Be sure to check out her GoGoAnita Wine Blog and read about her Wine + Shoe Pairings
MORE FAVORITES
JUDD’S HILL ($22)
Speaking of wine that’s hard to get, I think I got that last two bottles of @JuddsHill 2008 Sauvignon Blanc. This is a classic favorite of mine and I wanted to share it with the world. Although I did buy the last two bottles for the event I did selfishly keep one for myself… tee hee. I was, however, happy to see that I was not the only person promoting this wine. There was petty of Judd’s Hill to go around this night.
GAMBLE FAMILY VINEYARDS ($28)
Thanks to Elsbeth for sharing the @GambleFamilyVin. This wine packs a big punch of spice and flavor. What else would you expect from a vineyard managed by the legendary Tom Gamble. Proof that a vigorous vine, that only hangs two clusters per rootstock, can produce an amazing robust wine.
FARELLA-PARK “La Luce” Sauvignon Blanc ($15)
I really enjoyed this wine because it had a lot of the rare flavors you always hear about in a Sauvignon Blanc but usually can’t taste. The aroma was of ‘Spring Flowers’ with an elegant currant of ‘Hay” or what some would call ‘Grassy’. Refreshing and delightful.
Sounds like you tasted some amazing wine that night. It truly was an awesome event. Some may call it chaotic to follow all those tweets, but if you take a step back and look at exactly what was accomplished for exposure, follow up conversations and economic impact, it really is staggering.

Indeed. It's a great way to meet people who share your passion for wine.
My favorite part is estimating how many bottles of Sauvignon Blanc were opened for this tasting, wish I knew exactly… I am going to need tips on how to monitor the sure-to-be-crazy-busy #WineBlends conversations on April 1.
