Today I learned that when a vineyard is past it's prime it can be replaced with a rotation crop to amend something to the soil to help grow grapes when you decide to replant. All I can say is, "Wow!" On my first day on the job, Winemaker Joseph Wagner and I took a trip to the Sonoma Coast to visit the Taylor Lane Vineyard. This enchanted area is surrounded by a balance of fog and sun, which helps produce an amazing Pinot Noir thats full of bright berry flavors. We were extremely lucky to see the sun pierce an opening in the clouds just as the sheep made their way through the vineyard.
